Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Operations Engineer to oversee and coordinate the maintenance and repair operations of our mechanical workshop and site repair. This role involves supervising a team of mechanics, ensuring efficient workflow, enforcing safety standards, and maintaining equipment availability through preventive and corrective maintenance, responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of equipment (Forklift and Boom Lift). The role focuses on equipment performance, troubleshooting, process optimization, preventive maintenance coordination and continuous improvement to meet production and safety targets.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor day-to-day operation of equipment to ensure optimal performance and availability.
• Analyze equipment performance data (downtime, efficiency) and recommend improvements.
• Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Lead, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of mechanical technicians and junior foremen.
• Allocate tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely and quality repairs/maintenance.
• Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics of mechanical systems, engines, hydraulics, and equipment failures.
• Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and workshop resources.
• Plan and schedule preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime.
• Liaise with the operations team to prioritize repair requests.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and job reports.
• Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and enforce compliance with safety regulations.
• Train and mentor junior mechanics and apprentices.
• Inspect completed jobs to ensure workmanship and safety compliance.
• Manage spare parts inventory and submit requisitions for tools and materials.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards. Operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in Risk Assessment and Safety Audits.
• Provide regular performance updates to operations and management teams
Requirements:
• Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7–10 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and mechanical systems.
• Proficient in reading technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
• Familiarity with workplace safety procedures and risk assessments.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
