About the Company:
Hydrobiology Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking a dedicated and skilled Environmental Consultant or Senior Environmental Consultant - Terrestrial Ecologist to join our growing team. Based in Singapore, you will contribute to diverse environmental projects across the ASEAN region, supporting baseline ecological surveys, due diligence and impact assessments in some of the region’s most dynamic and sensitive ecosystems.
About the Job
Role:
As an Environmental Consultant or Senior Environmental Consultant - Terrestrial Ecologist, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality terrestrial ecological assessments. You will work alongside our experienced multidisciplinary team to support environmental planning, regulatory compliance, and sustainable development outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct terrestrial ecological surveys across varied landscapes.
- Identify regional flora and fauna, assess habitats, and map ecological communities.
- Contribute to baseline surveys, environmental impact assessments (EIAs), and mitigation strategies.
- Analyze field data and prepare clear, scientifically robust technical reports.
- Liaise with clients, partners, and government agencies across Southeast Asia.
- Keep abreast of local and regional environmental regulations and best practices.
- Support the design and implementation of biodiversity monitoring programs.
- Assist in proposal writing, project scoping, and business development activities.
- Dependable, responsible and minimal to nil supervision.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in terrestrial ecology, preferably within Singapore.
- Strong skills in species identification and ecological fieldwork.
- Familiarity with biodiversity-related legislation and frameworks in the region.
- Familiarity with the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT) and similar spatial or ecological assessment tools.
- Proficiency with GIS and ecological data management tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with ecological survey, restoration or biodiversity offsetting.
- Holding relevant permits or licenses for survey work in the region.
- Proficiency in regional languages is advantageous for stakeholder engagement (not required).
- Experience in stakeholder engagement in ecological projects.
