Job Description
Job Purpose
Provide effective and efficient technical support in the mounting of stage productions and other events for any of AHG venues.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Production and technical services/operations:
Fulfils the technical needs of clients in the areas of Staging, Lighting, Sound. Executes the technical requirements of each production.
Ensures that a high level of safety, quality service and craftsmanship is maintained.
Ensures that all technical equipment at the Arts House managed venues is safely and securely stored and that the tracking of equipment movement is well documented.
Load/bump-in/out, rig and set up/strike relevant equipment for various productions, events and functions.
Operates the equipment for checks and plotting sessions, rehearsals and performances.
Ensures that all stage, backstage and other production areas and equipment are kept neat, tidy and safe and secure.
Ensuring that the Technical Production Team is properly attired fitting the activity and venue. E.g. Show black for performances.
To act as a mentor to technical production staff as well as to provide on-the-job training for Arts House Limited staff in the technical /production team.
2. Maintenance of all technical equipment:
Maintains all technical equipment in good working order.
Tests and services all equipment on a regular basis, ensuring that they are in good working order at all times.
Provides first-line repair when necessary.
Monitors and tracks stock of spares and consumables and requests for re-order when necessary.
Regular inventory checks.
Updates and maintains maintenance logbook/ database.
3. Housekeeping of all technical equipment and production areas
Cleans all technical equipment when and where necessary after use
Cleans all production areas after use
4. Health and Safety
To implement safe working practices within a live entertainment working environment and ensure that you have a working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
To keep abreast of industry developments in safe and efficient working practices and audio/visual technology.
To ensure your team adheres to safe working practices and wears the correct PPE at all times i.e. steel toe boots/shoes
To report or be accountable for any team member that is guilty of unsafe work practices within the venue and its environment as well as personals of visiting productions.
5. General
Carries out and assumes any other duties and responsibilities as and when assigned by Technical & Production Manager
Qualifications
Educational qualifications
3 GCE “O” Levels or NTC-2 (from) ITE in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualifications in a similar field (technical areas).
Equivalent experience without qualification will be considered.
Training
Training in Technical Theatre: Stage Lighting, Live Audio reinforcement, Mechanics, Carpentry, Metal Work, Rigging, Scaffolding, Electricity, Electronics are an asset.
Training in First Aid and Fire Safety/Fire Fighting is an advantage.
Experience
Professional experience in the Performing Arts / Live Entertainment industry or similar or related field or trade is an asset.
Specific skills required
Ability to interpret and communicate ideas and information effectively.
Dedication to delivering a high-degree of customer service.
Ability to take a proactive, methodical approach to problem-solving.
Adept at working safely with hand and power tools including while working at height.
NOTE - THIS IS A 1 YEAR CONTRACT ROLE
