Job Description
To carry out theprofessional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordancewith
the school's policiesunder the direction of the school’s Principal.
1. Pedagogy
Employing effectivepedagogy that enables students to become successful learners who achieve personalexcellence by:
· Buildinglearning-focused relationships
· Empoweringstudents to become or prepare to be independent learners
· Usingassessment information to plan progression for the differing needs of learnersin class
· Usingappropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessment
· Providinghigh quality feedback to learners
· Encouragingstudents to reflect on their learning
· Engagingstudents in the construction of their learning processes
· Involvingparents in their students’ learning through regular parent-teacher dialogue.
2. Curriculum
· Demonstratinga high level of relevant curriculum knowledge
· Incorporatingrelevant thinking and reflective skills into the curriculum
· Assessment,recording and reporting on the work of students and attending Parents’ Meetingsto meet parents and discuss the progress of individual students 2
· Teachingassigned classes including the supervision of classes for absence cover
· Workingwith colleagues to ensure continuity and progression in the curriculum
· Preparationof students for and participation in the conduct of internal and external examinations
· Settingappropriate individual student targets in line with the school and departmentaltargets/policy
· Undertakingappropriate training including INSET days at the start of each term
· Promotingand participating in your own continuous professional development
· Maintenanceof a good standard of discipline among students with due respect to theirhealth
and safety
· Beresponsible for the overall performance of your teaching groups under the‘Every Child Matters’ banner:
- to encourage students to be safe and healthy
- to encourage them to be happy and enjoy yoursubject
- to encourage students to make a positivecontribution to lessons and achieve economic well being
- to act on student or parental concerns
· Activelyengaging in teacher learning and development

3. Co-curricularactivities:

· Havinga working knowledge of teachers' professional duties and legal liabilities
· Operatingat all times within the stated policies and practices of the school
· Establishingeffective and appropriate relationships with colleagues and parents
· Settinga good example through presentation and personal and professional conduct
· Co-operatingwith other staff to ensure a sharing and effective usage of resources to the benefitof the school and learners
· Contributingto the corporate life of the school through effective participation in meetingsand
· managementsystems necessary to coordinate the management of the school
· Takingpart in marketing and liaison activities such as Open Days and events withother stakeholders
· Anyother reasonable request from a manager to undertake work of a similar levelthat is not specified in this job description
JobSpecification
This section provides the knowledge, skills andabilities required to perform the role.
Years of Experience
· Minimally 5 years of relevant teaching experience, preferable within an international school setting.
· Experience with Cambridge curriculum is highly desirable.
Education
· At least a Bachelor’s degree in Education/ Teaching or equivalent, recognised by SSG/MOE in Singapore
· Higher degree or recognised professional qualification (preferred)
Profile of Competency
· Demonstrate an acute and deep understanding of a primary/secondary school curriculum.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Administrative and organizational skills
· Agile and resilient in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
· Uphold high level of professionalism within circle of influence
· Good composure and disposition
· Display strong team spirit; achieve synergy with team
· Computer literacy in MS office
Language Abilities
· Proficient in written and spoken English. Proficiency in the local language is an advantage.
Professional Qualifications / Job License
· PGDE and/or PGCE is preferable
· Preferably a Teacher’s License (NIE certification)
