You'll work with like-minded technologists globally with a variety of skill sets, focused on building data processing, workflow, analytical tools and interactive digital experiences using modern, appropriate technologies.   

 

The team 

Asia Technology Delivery focuses on delivering outcomes that depend on close collaboration, deep expertise in core investment capabilities as well as leading digital experiences. 
Our mission is to accelerate Schroder’s profitable growth strategy across the region at scale by harnessing technology. We are gearing up to deliver an exciting and varied portfolio of initiatives, including enhanced front-office investor workflows, the launch of new investment products, and the facilitation of merger and acquisition (M&A) technical deliverables.

We aim to maintain a great engineering culture. Contributing to this culture will involve following good software craftmanship, implementing effective testing practices, writing clean code, and embracing AI in engineering. Our systems must be well architected, designed for testability and extensibility. To achieve this, we implement mentoring and coaching through regular code reviews and pairing on challenging problems.

You'll work with a team of enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about software in a financial context and evolving our investment and business platforms. They're also keen on driving positive technology change at Schroders, ensuring that we always stay ahead of the curve. 

What you'll do

• Scope, design, build, and maintain APIs, user experiences and services that reliably enable business outcomes.
• Work with investment desk users to co-create maintainable code
• Meet directly with our users to help shape product changes.
• Debug and solve critical production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to build new features, while improving internal engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
• Collaborate effectively in a distributed and hybrid team, maintaining open communication and strong connections with colleagues.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need 

• 2 to 5+ years of software engineering experience (excluding internships).
• Strong coding skills in any programming language. 
  While we work mostly in TypeScript, Python and C#, we don't require experience in all these specific programming languages, we prioritise strong engineering skills and an aptitude for learning.
• Strong collaboration skills: can work across workstreams within your team and contribute to your peers’ success.
• Demonstrable experience embracing artificial intelligence evolving toolkit as an engineer in the software development lifecycle.
• Interest in working as a generalist across varying technologies and stacks to solve problems and delight both internal and external users.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help 

• Experience building user interfaces, designing and building APIs.
• Experience building software solutions in the investment management industry
• Experience with modern cloud and data platforms (e.g. Aws, Azure, Snowflake) 
• Experience with frontend ecosystem (TypeScript, React, etc.) and backend engineering in languages such as Python, C#. 
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
