Role: Set to Work Engineer – Equipment Room & Wayside
Navsar Global is a leading specialist engineering and commissioning firm connecting top-tier talent with critical projects in power generation, data centres, oil and gas, and complex infrastructure sectors. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Set to Work Engineer – Equipment Room & Wayside to join our client's dynamic team on a pivotal railway project.
As a Set to Work Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient testing and commissioning of railway systems. Your expertise will guarantee that all wayside subsystems are meticulously tested, seamlessly integrated, and fully commissioned in strict adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This is a critical role for professionals passionate about delivering robust and reliable railway infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
Planning & Execution of Testing Activities:
Lead the planning, preparation, and execution of comprehensive test and commissioning activities for critical railway wayside systems.
Focus areas include:
Signalling wayside equipment (e.g., signals, point machines, track circuits, axle counters).
Signalling Equipment/Station Platform equipment (e.g., EVSCP, HWTW, ESP, platform screen doors interfaces).
Power and earthing interfaces, ensuring robust electrical integration.
Develop, review, and refine Set to Work procedures, detailed test cases, method statements, and comprehensive checklists.
Execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Integrated System Tests (IST) with precision and thoroughness.
System Integration & Interface Management:
Coordinate effectively with various stakeholders, including wayside testing teams, Operations Control Centre (OCC) personnel, and civil systems teams, to ensure seamless integration.
Actively support System Integration Testing (SIT) and end-to-end operational scenarios to validate system performance under realistic conditions.
Safety & Compliance Assurance:
Champion a culture of safety by ensuring all testing activities strictly comply with safety rules, work permit regulations, and established safe work procedures.
Guarantee adherence to relevant international and local railway standards, including EN, IEC, IEEE, CENELEC, and specific local authority requirements.
Participate actively in hazard identification, rigorous risk assessments, and critical safety validation activities to mitigate potential risks.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain meticulous records of all test results, non-conformities, and punch lists, ensuring full traceability.
Prepare comprehensive test reports, official commissioning certificates, and accurate as-built documentation.
Support the timely submission of all required documentation to the client, Independent Safety Assessor (ISA), and regulatory authorities.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management:
Foster strong collaborative relationships by coordinating effectively with design, installation, construction, and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Support client inspections, audits, and witness testing, representing the project with professionalism and expertise.
Assist proactively in resolving site issues, defects, and integration challenges encountered during the commissioning phase.
Qualifications:
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or Railway Engineering.
Experience & Technical Skills:
Proven hands-on experience with rail or metro projects, preferably in a testing or commissioning capacity.
Strong understanding of railway wayside systems, their interfaces, and operational principles.
Familiarity with local rail authority requirements and safety approval processes is highly advantageous.
Demonstrable experience in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and System Integration Testing (SIT).
Ability to accurately read and interpret complex schematics, interface control documents (ICD), and detailed test procedures.
Familiarity with key railway standards such as EN 50126 / 50128 / 50129 is a significant advantage.
Proficient knowledge of various testing tools, measurement instruments, and diagnostic software relevant to railway systems.
Key Attributes:
Possession of a Class 3 or at least minimum of 3A driving license is preferred.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coordination abilities, capable of engaging with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a valuable member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Willingness and flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, or during railway possessions as dictated by project requirements.
