Senior Legal Counsel / Legal Counsel | Commodities Industry | 8-12 PQE (CL-OC-24)

An international group within the commodities industry is looking to hire a legal counsel to support its trading, investment and compliance activities. This is a commercially focused role for a lawyer who is comfortable handling both transactional and contentious matters across cross-border business operations.

Key responsibilities

Advise on a broad range of trade, commercial and investment-related contracts

Review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, transactional documents and related legal materials

Support M&A and investment matters, including due diligence and transaction support

Manage disputes arising from trade and commercial dealings, including arbitration, litigation strategy, negotiations and enforcement coordination

Oversee and manage external counsel across multiple matters

Provide guidance on compliance issues, including trade controls, competition matters and broader regulatory risk

Partner internal stakeholders on legal risk management across business activities

Support other legal and strategic matters as required

Requirements

Qualified lawyer from a common law jurisdiction

Around 8-12 years’ relevant post-qualification experience

Strong background in commodities, international trade, cross-border transactions or investment work

Experience gained in a leading law firm and/or in-house environment

Confident handling both advisory and dispute-related matters

Familiar with cross-border legal and regulatory issues, with sound commercial judgment

Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Open to occasional travel where required
