Job Summary

As part of UIB Asia’s Singapore-based Analytics team (Actuarial & CAT), you will support clients by performing actuarial analysis and interpreting catastrophe modelling results for risk assessment. You will design reinsurance structures, provide pricing indications, monitor actuarial and CAT solution developments, and deliver timely, accurate services. You will contribute to tool development, perform advanced analyses, and conduct internal and market research, applying a clear understanding of reinsurance fundamentals and modelling frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Analytics team on the actuarial side to deliver high-quality analytical services and solutions
• Develop and present proposals to existing and prospective clients, influencing strategic decision-making
• Conduct technical discussions with reinsurers to align on risk and solution design
• Analyse and develop structured reinsurance solutions and alternatives to optimise client programmes
• Design optimum reinsurance structures based on client risk management and strategic requirements
• Perform Dynamic Financial Analysis (DFA) to support reinsurance optimisation exercises
• Assist in technical pricing of reinsurance solutions using experience and exposure pricing techniques
• Provide technical assistance in placing business with client-approved reinsurers to ensure smooth execution
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with reinsurers, clients, and colleagues to facilitate collaboration and business growth
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of reinsurer capabilities, appetites, and market trends impacting structured (re)insurance solutions
• Monitor industry loss and exposure trends to inform portfolio analysis and solution development
• Liaise effectively with clients’ exposure producers, reinsurers, underwriters, and business partners, with a focus on clients with significant exposures in SEA territories
• Explore retrocession business opportunities to expand service offerings
• Ensure all files and client matters are handled in accordance with company procedures and compliance standards
• Drive skills development within the team to enhance overall analytical capabilities
• Support operations, finance, accounts, technical service teams, and management in servicing existing and new clients
• Stay abreast of applicable regulations and uphold UIB Group Best Practices framework
• Proactively maintain actuarial best practices including technical peer review, documentation, and continuous process improvements

Required competencies and certifications

• Degree in Actuarial Studies or related fields such as mathematics, finance, or statistical studies
• Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary with a recognised Actuarial institute
• Minimum 8 years of experience in non-life Insurance / Reinsurance Actuarial roles
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and VBA; experience with DFA software is a plus
• Experienced in analysing treaty renewal data including risk profiles, claims, and statistics
• Knowledgeable in reinsurance contract wordings and market norms and requirements
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with analytical rigor and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively under pressure
• Organisational skills to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines consistently
