Job Summary

The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and access control of the shipyard premises, vessels, personnel, and assets. The role involves monitoring entry and exit points, enforcing shipyard security procedures, conducting patrols, and responding to security incidents in compliance with Singapore regulations and shipyard safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Access Control & Monitoring

• Control and record entry and exit of personnel, visitors, contractors, and vehicles

• Verify identification passes, work permits, and visitor approvals

• Ensure only authorised personnel access restricted areas and vessels

Patrol & Surveillance

• Conduct regular foot and/or vehicle patrols within the shipyard, berths, and workshops

• Monitor CCTV systems and alarm panels

• Check for suspicious activities, safety hazards, or security breaches

Vessel & Cargo Security

• Monitor vessel gangways and ship access points

• Ensure compliance with ISPS Code (where applicable)

• Prevent unauthorised boarding, theft, or tampering of ship equipment and cargo

Incident Response & Reporting

• Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, fire alarms, or disturbances

• Detain and report unauthorised or suspicious individuals as per procedures

• Prepare incident reports, occurrence logs, and daily security records

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce shipyard safety rules, PPE compliance, and no-smoking policies

• Assist during emergency drills, evacuations, and muster procedures

• Coordinate with shipyard management, police, SCDF, and port authorities when required

General Duties

• Maintain professionalism and customer-service mindset when dealing with clients and crew

• Support security audits and inspections

• Perform other security-related duties as assigned by supervisors

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid Security Officer Licence issued by Singapore Police Force (PLRD)

• Prior experience in shipyard, port, offshore, or industrial security is an advantage

• Physically fit and able to work day shift

• Familiar with ISPS Code and maritime security practices (preferred)
