Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction and educate students following the IB PYP, IGCSE, and IB Diploma curricular guidelines to achieve learning outcomes.
- Tailor teaching approaches to meet the educational needs, abilities, and potential of individual students as assigned by the Head of School.
- Foster and promote the attributes and attitudes of the IB Learner Profile and uphold the school’s core values in all interactions.
- Create and maintain a positive, engaging classroom environment that supports active learning and student growth.
- Develop and design course materials, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with curriculum standards and student needs.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and faculty to support student progress and engagement.
- Integrate current teaching methodologies into classroom instruction to enhance learning effectiveness.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities focused on Japanese language and culture to enrich student experience.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Japanese language curriculum across Primary and Secondary levels.
- Design, prepare, and deliver lessons that build knowledge, skills, and understanding tailored to diverse learner profiles.
- Collaborate with colleagues to differentiate planning, learning engagements, and assessments to meet individual learner needs.
- Assess and monitor learner progress regularly, set improvement goals, write student reports, and participate in parent meetings.
- Lead or participate in extracurricular activities, school events, assemblies, staff training, and meetings to contribute to school community life.
- Promote and ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all students within the school environment.
Required competencies and certifications
- Possess a recognized certification in teaching Japanese language such as JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) or equivalent.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree and a professional teaching qualification (e.g., PGDE, PGCE, PGCEi, NIE Diploma) or a valid Teacher License/QTS.
- Demonstrate a minimum of two (2) years of relevant full-time teaching experience as a qualified teacher.
- Exhibit strong knowledge and experience in teaching Japanese language to Primary students.
- Demonstrate excellent command of the Japanese language, including reading, writing, and speaking fluently.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience working in an international school environment.
- Passion for delivering student-centred, inquiry-based learning approaches.
- Prior experience teaching Japanese language to students of varying ages and proficiency levels.
