Job Summary

We are looking for a reliable, compassionate, and certified Part-Time Pet Care Assistant who holds a Pet Care and Management (Companion Animals) certificate. In this role, you will assist in providing daily care, grooming, feeding, and supervision for pets, ensuring their health and well-being while creating a safe and comfortable environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to pets by feeding, grooming, walking, and engaging them in playtime activities
• Follow proper care protocols to ensure pets’ health and safety at all times
• Monitor pets’ physical condition, behavior, and emotional state, and report any concerns promptly to the supervisor
• Assist in administering medications as prescribed by veterinarians to support pets’ health needs
• Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in pet care areas such as kennels and play areas to prevent illness
• Communicate clearly and regularly with pet owners to provide updates on their pets’ well-being
• Respond promptly and appropriately to pet-related emergencies to ensure safety
• Keep accurate records of each pet’s care routine, feeding times, and any special requirements for continuity of care

Required competencies and certifications

• Certificate in Pet Care and Management (Companion Animals) or equivalent

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Previous experience in pet care or animal handling
• Knowledge of pet health and nutrition
• First aid certification for pets (if applicable)
• Experience caring for pets with special needs, such as elderly pets or those with disabilities
• Compassionate, patient, and trustworthy with animals
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Strong communication skills to effectively update pet owners
• Ability to handle pets of various sizes and temperaments
• Flexible availability for part-time hours, including weekends and holidays if necessary
