Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES (E.g. Job Scope) :
The Tunnel TBM Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems related to Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) operations. This role ensures the TBM and associated electrical, mechanical, and auxiliary systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project, contractual, and regulatory requirements. The duties include and not limited to:
TBM M&E Management
- Lead the installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and dismantling of TBM mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ensure continuous and reliable TBM operation to meet production targets and project schedules.
- Manage TBM power supply, drives, hydraulics, lubrication, cooling, ventilation, and control systems.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for TBM and backup systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and automation faults to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate spare parts management, critical components, and consumables.
- Maintenance of TBM, STS, STP, M&E facilities, tunnel materials
Planning & Coordination
- Plan overall tunnel production logistic requirements
- Coordinate closely with TBM operations, tunnelling, segment production, and logistics teams.
- Planning of TBM dismantle, secondary lining machines and construction
- Interface with TBM suppliers, OEMs, subcontractors, and specialist service providers.
- Support construction planning, shift scheduling, and advance maintenance planning.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Ensure full compliance with HSE requirements, risk assessments, method statements, and permits to work.
- Promote safe working practices in confined underground environments.
- Ensure all M&E works comply with project specifications standards, and quality plans.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, breakdowns, inspections, and modifications.
- Prepare regular performance, availability, and reliability reports for project management.
- Support claims, variations, and technical submissions related to TBM M&E works.
REQUIREMENT (E.g. Qualifications, Certifications, Experience) :
- Candidate should possess Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering and or related Engineering Degree.
- At least 15 years experience in managing E&M tunnelling works with minimum project value of SGD300 million.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written business and technical Japanese language a must for liaising with internal and external Japanese speaking stakeholders as well as direct communications to Japan HQ for obtaining technical and financial support for procurement of TBM.
- Potential candidates must demonstrate experience in successfully managing an infrastructure project with contract value of SGD300 million or more.
- Familiar with LTA MRT station and tunnelling projects requirements and specifications.
- Candidate must have experience in overseas underground tunnel projects such as Japan, etc.
