About the Opportunity

Our client is an established financial institution seeking a Singapore-qualified lawyer to join its Legal & Compliance team at the Assistant Vice President level. This role offers a balanced mix of commercial legal work and regulatory compliance responsibilities, providing strong exposure to a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Advisory & Commercial Support

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, corporate documents and legal contracts
• Provide timely and practical legal advice to business and support functions
• Identify legal risks associated with business initiatives and recommend mitigation strategies
• Support contract negotiations with external counterparties
• Review and update internal policies, procedures and governance documents

Regulatory Compliance

• Support the implementation and maintenance of the organization’s compliance framework
• Provide advisory on regulatory obligations applicable to financial institutions
• Monitor regulatory developments and assist in impact assessment and implementation
• Support internal compliance reviews, audits and regulatory enquiries
• Develop and deliver compliance training programmes to staff

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws 
• Singapore-qualified lawyer with at least 1 year PQE (private practice or in-house)
• Experience in financial services, banking, asset management or other regulated industries preferred
• Strong understanding of corporate and commercial legal principles
• Good stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Prior compliance exposure will be an advantage
