Lead Commissioning Engineer-LNG

Job Summary

Lead commissioning and start-up activities for LNG greenfield and brownfield projects in Asia, ensuring safe, efficient transition from construction to operations through collaboration with engineering, EPC contractors, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Execute pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities to ensure operational readiness of LNG facilities
• Perform system checks, loop testing, flushing, pressure testing, and energization to validate system integrity and functionality
• Support cool-down, first gas introduction, and plant start-up operations to achieve stable production
• Troubleshoot process, mechanical, and instrumentation issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain safety
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, and internal teams to align commissioning schedules and resolve technical challenges
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and enforce permit-to-work systems for safe operations
• Support performance testing and facilitate handover to operations teams to ensure smooth transition and operational continuity

Required competencies and certifications

• Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline
• Extensive experience (20 years) in oil & gas, including 5-10 years focused on LNG commissioning exposure
• Proven experience in greenfield and brownfield projects covering full commissioning lifecycle
• Strong knowledge of LNG systems including liquefaction, regasification, storage, and utilities
• Ability to read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and control diagrams
• Experience working in site-based EPC project environments

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Skills in troubleshooting in live plant environments to quickly identify and resolve operational issues
• Knowledge of process safety practices including HAZOP, Permit to Work (PTW), and SIMOPS management
• Stakeholder coordination and execution skills to manage cross-functional teams and project stakeholders
