Intern – Intellectual Property (IP) Management
Company: Alfa Connections Group
Location: Singapore
Internship Duration: 3–6 months
Reports to: Group Management
Role Purpose
The IP Management Intern will support the setup and operation of a centralized Intellectual Property (IP) management system for Alfa Connections. This role focuses on organizing, documenting, tracking, and protecting the Group’s intellectual assets, including software IP, copyrights, trademarks, documentation, and internal frameworks developed across multiple countries.
Key Responsibilities
1. IP Inventory & Documentation
Identify and catalogue existing IP assets across the Group (e.g. software portals, code repositories, frameworks, methodologies, documents).
Classify IP types (copyright, trademark, trade secret, internal IP).
Maintain structured IP records including ownership, contributors, creation date, and jurisdiction.
2. IP Management System Setup
Assist in designing and implementing an IP tracking and management system (e.g. using Microsoft SharePoint, Lists, Dataverse, or Power Platform).
Define IP metadata, naming conventions, versioning, and access controls.
Create templates for IP records, declarations, and internal disclosures.
3. Process & Governance
Help design internal IP governance processes, including:
IP creation and disclosure workflow
Employee and contractor IP assignment tracking
IP usage and licensing tracking
Support drafting simple internal SOPs related to IP handling.
4. Legal & Compliance Support
Assist in preparing documentation for:
Copyright registration
Trademark filing (where applicable)
Coordinate basic IP information for external lawyers or consultants.
Track IP ownership across entities (Singapore HQ and overseas subsidiaries).
5. Reporting & Management Support
Produce IP summary reports for management.
Maintain dashboards or trackers for IP status and renewal timelines.
Support ad-hoc research on IP best practices and regional IP regulations.
Requirements
Educational Background
Undergraduate or postgraduate student in:
Law (IP / Commercial Law preferred)
Business, Management, or Corporate Governance
Information Systems / IT / Digital Transformation
Or a related discipline with strong interest in IP management
Skills & Attributes
Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
Good organizational and analytical skills
Comfortable working with structured data and records
Familiarity with Microsoft tools (SharePoint, Excel, Word); Power Platform is a plus
Able to handle confidential information professionally
Interest in technology, software, and digital products is highly preferred
