About the role

This traineeship offers an excellent opportunity to embark on a career as a Database Administrator within Group Technology's Infrastructure & Cloud team. You will gain foundational experience in supporting critical database operations, including administration tasks, Linux shell scripting, developing automations, and contributing to dashboarding initiatives. This role is ideal for individuals eager to develop practical skills in managing various database technologies and enhancing system efficiency in a dynamic banking technology environment. You will play a supporting role in maintaining robust and reliable database infrastructure.

Job Responsibility

Database Administration Support:

• Assist with day-to-day database administration tasks across various database types (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MariaDB).
• Support database performance monitoring and basic troubleshooting.
• Contribute to ensuring database availability and reliability.

Automation & Scripting:

• Learn and apply Linux shell scripting to automate routine database tasks and processes.
• Assist in developing and implementing automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Dashboarding & Reporting:

• Support activities related to creating and maintaining operational dashboards for database metrics.
• Assist in data collection and visualization for reporting purposes.

Change Management & Requests:

• Assist in processing and managing change requests related to database configurations and deployments.
• Participate in change management procedures, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to protocols.

System & Process Improvement:

• Contribute to identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within database operations.

Job Requirements

• Polytechnic Diploma or University Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge in any of the following databases: MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MariaDB, or similar.
• Basic understanding of SQL commands for data querying and manipulation.
• Basic understanding of Linux shell scripting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proactive learner with a keen interest in database technologies and automation.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
