Job Description
Position Summary
The Youth Empowerment Specialist plays a key role in designing, delivering, and refining community-based initiatives that meaningfully engage children and youths. The specialist builds authentic relationships, creates safe developmental spaces, and supports youths’ social-emotional growth. This role engages directly with youths, facilitates groupwork, enables volunteers, and strengthens community outreach.
Key Responsibilities
1. Youth Engagement & Relational Connection
- Build trusting, supportive relationships with youths through consistent community presence.
- Use strengths-based approaches to understand youth interests, challenges, and motivations.
- Befriend and engage youths in natural community settings and connect them to suitable programmes.
- Create safe spaces where youths feel heard, respected, and empowered.
2. Programme Development & Delivery
- Design and deliver youth-focused programmes integrating arts, sports, and experiential learning.
- Support programme planning, logistics, administration, and evaluation.
- Conduct needs assessments to ensure programme relevance.
- Assist centres in running mentoring programmes and youth activities.
3. Community Outreach & Engagement
- Implement estate-based initiatives such as block parties, surveys, door-to-door outreach, and community events.
- Strengthen organisational presence by connecting children, youths, and families to services.
- Build positive relationships with external professionals, schools, and community partners.
4. Groupwork Facilitation
- Support and co-facilitate groupwork sessions in schools and community settings.
- Promote socio-emotional learning, peer connection, and resilience.
5. Volunteer Enablement
- Assist in screening, orienting, and equipping volunteers.
- Support the development of volunteer capabilities for impactful youth engagement.
6. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Collect data, feedback, and observations to support programme evaluation.
- Complete progress reports and documentation in a timely manner.
7. Operational & Safety Responsibilities
- Uphold safety and organisational protocols in all activities.
- Support assigned ad-hoc community projects.

- Team-oriented with strong digital literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, AI).

- Strong youth engagement skills at individual and group levels.
- Understanding of youth development frameworks and mentoring principles.
- Ability to design meaningful youth
learning experiences.
- Proficient in conducting home and agency visits.
- Skilled in programme assessment and data collection.
- Capable of supporting volunteer training.
- Able to proactively connect with community stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or related fields.
- At least 1 year of experience working with youths or children in social service, education, or community settings.
- Experience in community outreach and programme planning is advantageous.
