Role Overview

The Operations & Sustainability Engineer oversees fuel handling operations, plant O&M technical coordination, and energy efficiency initiatives at the biomass power plant. The role ensures smooth operation of biomass receiving infrastructure (silo and seafront jetty), provides technical oversight of the contracted O&M operator, and drives compliance with Singapore’s energy efficiency regulations under the National Environment Agency. The position integrates operations, engineering, procurement, and sustainability to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead O&M contractor coordination, reviewing technical matters, spare parts, equipment, and procurement specifications.
• Monitor O&M performance, support technical evaluations, and oversee plant modifications, maintenance, and shutdown planning where required.
• Lead energy efficiency initiatives, including identifying opportunities, preparing and submitting Energy Efficiency Opportunity Assessments (EEOA), implementing measures, and tracking energy savings.
• Monitor site operations for biomass handling, storage, and movement at silo and seafront jetty.
• Supervise operators of heavy equipment including excavators, wheel loaders, and forklifts where required.
• Ensure safe operations, adherence to SOPs, and compliance with site safety and regulatory requirements.
• Support sustainability reporting and continuous improvement in energy utilization and operational efficiency.

Qualification Required

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
• 1 – 3 years of experience in power plant operations, heavy industrial facilities, or fuel handling/logistics.
• Experience supervising operational teams and coordinating with O&M contractors.
• Knowledge of industrial energy efficiency principles and practices.

Preferred

• Experience in biomass, waste-to-energy, or thermal power plants.
• Familiarity with Singapore energy efficiency regulatory requirements and EEOA submissions.
• Understanding of jetty/marine interface operations.
• Experience reviewing O&M or technical service agreements.
• Knowledge of NEA compliance frameworks.
