We are in partnership with an insurance client who is looking to hire a Director of Marine Insurance to lead and grow their #marine #cargo portfolio for their Singapore portfolio.

Based in Singapore, the successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting leadership, portfolio management, risk assessment, client engagement, and strategic development of the #marine #cargo business line. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, market knowledge, and commercial acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute the strategic vision for the #marine #cargo insurance line for Singapore market.
• Drive business development initiatives and identify growth opportunities in existing and emerging markets.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform strategy and positioning.

Underwriting & Portfolio Management

• Oversee #underwriting standards, pricing, and risk selection in line with corporate guidelines and profitability targets.
• Lead the assessment and approval of complex and high-value risks.
• Ensure balanced portfolio growth while maintaining #underwriting discipline.

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of #Marine Cargo underwriters
• Foster a high-performance culture with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.

Client & Broker Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, brokers, and industry stakeholders.
• Represent the company at industry forums, client meetings, and conferences.
• Partner with the distribution and sales teams to tailor insurance solutions to client needs.

Requirements:

• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in #marine #cargo #insurance, with at track record of leading Underwriting teams.
• Strong experience in Singapore #marine #cargo market; BCP, PGI, CGI are a must.
• Well networked with great working relationships with local intermediaries
• Deep technical expertise in #marine #cargo #underwriting and risk assessment.
• Strong commercial mindset with a proven track record of portfolio profitability and growth.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to navigate complex negotiations and build long-term client relationships.
