Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced CFD Specialist to perform and lead wind-driven rain (WDR) studies
and related wind engineering analyses for building developments. The role involves advanced
numerical simulation, interpretation of results, and preparation of technical reports for authority
submissions and design optimization.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct CFD simulations for wind-driven rain (WDR), external wind flow, and pedestrian wind
comfort studies
• Develop and validate CFD models including atmospheric boundary layer profiles and
turbulence models
• Perform rain droplet modelling using Lagrangian particle tracking
• Carry out sensitivity analysis, mesh independence studies, and validation against benchmarks
• Interpret results and provide design recommendations (e.g., façade mitigation, rain screen
design)
• Prepare technical reports for authority submission and peer review
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and regulatory bodies
• Support presentations to clients and authorities
Requirements - Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Environmental Engineering or related field
• Master’s degree in CFD, Fluid Mechanics, or Building Physics preferred
Technical Competencies
• Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, turbulence modelling, and wind engineering
• Understanding of atmospheric boundary layer flows
• Experience with multiphase flow modelling (air–rain interaction)
• Proficiency in CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or STAR-CCM+
• Experience with Lagrangian particle tracking and post-processing tools
Experience
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant CFD experience
• Experience in wind-driven rain (WDR) studies preferred
• Experience in wind flow or pedestrian wind comfort studies
• Experience in building-related CFD simulations
• Experience preparing reports for authority submission
Additional Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly
• Familiarity with international guidelines such as ASHRAE and AIJ
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration advantageous
• Experience in Singapore projects and authority submissions
• Experience in fire and smoke CFD simulations is a plus
