Job Description

Position Summary

Our accounting work is not limited to data entry. Data entry is generally part of bookkeeping, while the accountant’s role goes further to include reviewing the accounts, tax implications, and advising clients on proper record-keeping and how documents should be maintained. The role therefore requires both technical understanding and practical communication with clients.

The Accounting Associate will be responsible for handling a portfolio of clients and supporting their accounting, reporting, tax, and compliance matters based on the scope and frequency of services required, whether monthly, quarterly, or annually. This includes: 


1. Accounting;

2. Financial Reporting;

3. GST computation and filing;

4. Taxation work;

5. Payroll and;

6. ACRA-related compliance such as Annual Return filings, AGM documentation, and non-routine directors’ resolutions.

This is an entry to mid-level position suitable for candidates who are looking to build and grow their experience in accounting, taxation and client portfolio management.

Our team works on a portfolio management basis, where the nature of work is generally similar across positions, while the complexity, scope, and level of client exposure will vary depending on the level of the role.

General Requirements

• ITE, Diploma, or professional accounting qualification in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.

• At least 1 year of relevant working experience in accounting, audit, or finance.

• Comfortable communicating with clients, or willing to develop client communication skills as part of the role.

Requirements for Candidates from Accounting or Audit Firm Background

·       Accounting knowledge and be able to work with accounting records, schedules, and supporting documents.

·       Identify, analyze, and resolve accounting-related issues as part of the work.

·       Knowledge of extended trial balance, balance sheet movements, profit and loss, and general ledger.

Requirements for Candidates from Commercial or In-House Finance Background

·       Core accounting knowledge expected of a bookkeeper, but in-depth technical accounting knowledge is not required for this category of candidates.

·       Candidates from a commercial or in-house finance background are expected to have better communication skills, as the technical exposure may differ from that of candidates from an audit or accounting firm environment.

·       Additional training and guidance will be provided to support candidates in building the technical exposure required for the role.


Role Allocation

·       We are looking for candidates who can work independently in managing a portfolio of clients.

·       Work and client allocation will depend on each employee’s strengths and development areas.

·       Employees with weaker technical exposure may be assigned clients with lower technical complexity but higher communication needs.

·       Employees with weaker communication skills may be assigned more technically focused work while they continue to develop their client-handling abilities.

Remote Working: Up to twice a month under normal arrangement, and up to 4 times a month for special personal needs, such as a working mother with childcare needs.
