Job Summary

The Senior Unix / Linux System Administrator will ensure the stability, security, and performance of Unix and Linux systems supporting high-availability platforms in mission-critical infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Unix (e.g., Solaris) and Linux systems across production, test, and disaster recovery environments to ensure operational continuity
• Perform system upgrades, patching, and security hardening to maintain system reliability and compliance with standards
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; analyze metrics and implement improvements to optimize infrastructure
• Manage system backups to guarantee data recoverability and support business continuity plans
• Provide timely system support and troubleshoot incidents to meet service level standards and minimize downtime
• Conduct root cause analysis of system issues and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence
• Plan and execute system changes following established change management processes to ensure smooth deployment
• Support deployment activities and coordinate releases into production environments to minimize disruptions
• Maintain accurate system configurations and documentation to ensure proper tracking of infrastructure components
• Support disaster recovery planning and participate in regular testing exercises to validate recovery readiness
• Ensure standby and recovery systems are effective and ready for activation during incidents
• Provide infrastructure support for system enhancement projects by collaborating with internal teams to align improvements with business needs

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Unix / Linux system administration certifications
• Cloud platform certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, or equivalent)
