Job Description
Join NUHS@Home, an innovative and transformative healthcare initiative at the National University Health System. The Senior Occupational Therapist is responsible for assisting in the management of a specialised workgroup and for providing specialised assessment and treatment to patients referred for occupational therapy. He / she will assist in the supervision of Occupational therapists deployed to the workgroup.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%):
- Assess and manage patients referred for occupational therapy independently and implement appropriate treatment plans, applying specialised occupational therapy knowledge and skills.
- Document patient occupational therapy records accurately.
- Charge patients accurately.
- Comply with clinical and service standards.
- Communicate with the referring doctor and other members of the medical team.
- Practice within areas of professional competence and seek clinical support from supervisor / other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%):
1) Clinical
- Assist in the organisation and participation of occupational therapists in multi-disciplinary case conferences.
- Assist in reviewing and updating clinical protocols and SOPs based on available most-updated evidence-based research.
- Participate in Clinical Education. Assist in the development and co-ordination of clinical education programmes for occupational therapy students attached to the workgroup
- Assist in the initiation of clinical research projects related to the workgroup.
2) Service
- Assist in the preparation of monthly performance reports for the workgroup.
- Assist in the monitoring of key performance indicators of the workgroup (clinical / service quality, revenue and productivity).
- Prepare and regularly update the inventory for therapy equipment for the workgroup.
- Assist in budgeting of therapeutic equipment and consumables and assist in the preparation of yearly capex and minor assets and operating budget documents for the workgroup.
- Assist in managing complaints, preventing adverse events and promoting workplace safety.
- Assist in developing, promoting and marketing new clinical services.
3) Staff Development
- Assist in the induction of new occupational therapists deployed to the workgroup. Assist in updating of induction checklist/files relevant to the workgroup.
- Assist in the identification of training needs, improve wellness and develop staff in the workgroup.
- Contribute to departmental inservice training programmes.
4) Others
- Actively update occupational therapy knowledge and skills.
- Contribute to hospital educational talks and external talks / workshops / forums / seminars.
- Network strategically with other healthcare practitioners to improve teamwork, efficiency and patient care.
- Assist in the management of projects assigned to the workgroup.
Requirements:
- Full AHPC registration
- Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy recognised by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)
- Min. 2 years of relevant working experience
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Service oriented and customer focused
- Result oriented
- Team worker
- Competent in IT skills (Microsoft Excel / Word / Access / Powerpoint)
