About the company

Our client is a leading player in a complex, project-driven industry with significant operations in Singapore and the region.

The role

This is a broad in-house legal role supporting the legal team across commercial, operational and strategic matters, with a stronger emphasis on shipping, maritime and cross-border business issues. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders on contracts, disputes, compliance and operational legal support.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial, procurement and maritime-related agreements
• Support legal matters arising from day-to-day operations, cross-border business activities and new initiatives
• Advise on disputes, litigation and regulatory matters, including management of external counsel
• Support on corporate, restructuring, JV and other strategic business matters
• Strengthen legal processes, templates and internal documentation
• Provide advice on compliance, governance and regulatory issues across the business

Requirements

• At least 5 years’ PQE
• Trained in a reputable law firm and/or gained relevant in-house experience
• Strong experience in shipping, maritime, international trade or offshore / marine legal work
• Experience in commercial contracts and disputes
• Prior exposure to port, vessel, offshore, logistics or marine-related operations would be advantageous
• Commercially minded, practical and able to work independently with stakeholders across the business
