Overview
As part of our ongoing business expansion and organizational growth, we are seeking a Sales Manager to lead our timber trading business, focusing on expanding international sales while contributing to sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about the timber industry and motivated to create positive environmental impact through responsible sourcing and trading.
You will play a key role in driving business growth while aligning with our corporate philosophy of contributing to sustainability and environmental preservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sales strategies for timber and wood-related products across international markets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global buyers, suppliers, and partners
- Identify new market opportunities and expand the timber trading portfolio
- Promote sustainably sourced timber products and communicate environmental value propositions
- Manage the full sales cycle from sourcing to delivery, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply-demand dynamics in the timber and forestry sectors
- Lead and develop a sales team, including performance management
- Collaborate with internal teams for logistics, compliance, and operational execution
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and sustainability standards (e.g., FSC or equivalent)
- Prepare sales forecasts, reports, and strategic recommendations for management
Requirements
Must-have
- Minimum 5 years of international sales experience
- Business-level Japanese proficiency or above (for communication with Japanese clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders)
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel internationally
Good to have
- Experience in timber, commodities, or related industries (strongly preferred)
- Strong interest in the timber industry and sustainability / environmental initiatives
- Experience in international trade, commodity trading, or forestry-related business
- Familiarity with sustainability certifications (e.g., FSC or equivalent)
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
- Experience working in multinational or cross-cultural environments
