Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Fellow for the project titled “Integrative Adolescence Research Programme 2.0: Pillar 1 and Pillar 2” within the Department of Paediatrics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Department of Paediatrics is a dynamic and research-intensive department with strong commitments to both education and translational research. Its key areas of focus include child and adolescent health, as well as the influence of early-life factors on long-term health outcomes. The appointment will be offered on a 1-year contract in the first instance, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.

Purpose of the post

The Research Fellow will support the Principal Investigator (PI) in the execution of the project, with responsibilities which include management of cohorts’ research and administrative matters, data cleaning and management, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation. The postdoctoral researcher is also expected to contribute substantially to the design and implementation of analytical strategies for the project.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Perform data cleaning, management, and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and consistency of datasets.
• Assist PI in managing research and administrative matters of the research cohorts under the PI
• Conduct statistical analyses using appropriate methodologies to support research objectives.
• Contribute to the writing, editing, and publication of manuscripts in high-impact peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Tier Q1 journals aligned with NUS guidelines).
• Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in grant proposal development, including literature review, methodological design, and drafting of grant applications.
• Prepare and deliver presentations of research findings for internal meetings, conferences, and other academic platforms.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary research teams across different domains.
• Maintain proper documentation of analytical workflows and research outputs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned, incidental to the work described above.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, or related discipline).
• Strong statistical analysis skills with experience in handling complex datasets.
• Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, R, Stata, or equivalent tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with demonstrated experience in academic writing and publications.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and produce high-quality work under pressure.
