Job Description
• Develop and run urban-scale building performance simulations integrating energy demand, thermal comfort, and health-related metrics.
• Model and assess thermal comfort at the building and neighborhood levels or urban scale using indicators such as PMV, UTCI, or equivalent frameworks.
• Incorporate public health data or proxies (e.g., heat exposure, ventilation adequacy, indoor air quality) into urban simulation workflows.
• Collect, process, and integrate urban morphology, weather, and building systems data using GIS and simulation-ready formats.
• Calibrate and validate models with empirical datasets (e.g., sensor data, census health indicators, or climate observations).
• Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate the impact of design or policy interventions on urban vitality, especially for vulnerable populations.
• Visualize and communicate complex simulation outcomes using charts, maps, and interactive tools for both academic and stakeholder engagement.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including experts in urban planning, environmental health, and computational modeling.
Job Requirements
Required:
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Building Science, Building Performance Simulations, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with building energy modeling tools
• Understanding of thermal comfort modeling, indoor climate conditions, and their relevance to human health.
• Proficiency in Python, Javascript or similar platforms for parametric modeling and data automation.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred:
• Experience with urban-scale simulation platforms
• Knowledge of urban climate adaptationin the built environment, or resilience planning.
• Ability to link simulation results to equity-focused or health-outcome frameworks.
• Experience with data visualization tools and workflows for communicating simulation results to varied audiences.
• Publication experience
