Job Description
Job Purpose
The QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement within AMI coating production.
This role supervises QA Technicians in carrying out quality inspections, oversees quality data collection and reporting, manages customer feedback, and drives improvement initiatives.
The QA Engineer also supports new project development and Quality & Environmental Management Systems (QEMS) to meet organizational goals.
Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance & Inspection
Supervise QA Technicians to perform Outgoing Quality Assurance (OQA) inspections for shipment release.
Ensure inspection processes are executed accurately and in compliance with established standards and requirements.
Ensure proper control is exercised for identification, segregation, disposition and documentation of all non-conforming materials and products in coating production.
2. Data Collection & Reporting
Collect, monitor, and analyze coating production yield data.
Prepare and submit weekly quality and yield reports to management.
3. Continuous Improvement
Initiate and lead continual improvement and lean projects to enhance quality, efficiency, and process reliability.
Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective and preventive measures.
4. Corrective Action Process
Conduct failure analysis for both internal quality issues as well as customer feedback.
Follow up Production’s corrective action report before closure.
Record and track production customer’s feedback/complaint.
5. Project & Document Support
Support new project development by preparing and implementing Quality Plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Standard Inspection Plans
(SIP), and Work Instructions (WI).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality requirements into project activities.
6. Measurement
Monitor daily measurement results and analyze measurement deviation.
Manage measurement equipment: Arrange for calibration and maintenance.
7. Engineering Change Process
Track Engineering Change Request report.
Validate changes as per ECR.
Track and check on first 3 lots batch production upon completion of ECR.
8. QEHS Support
Support the Quality & Environmental Management Systems (QEMS) by monitoring quality and environmental performance targets and programs.
Ensure compliance with ISO and other regulatory requirements.
Ensure proper control is exercised in production as per QEMS requirements and strive to achieve QEMS and Safety objectives.
9. Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Coating production yield
CONQ
Customer complaint rate and response time
Internal quality deviations
Zero nonconformance at internal and external ISO audit.
Initial and complete at least 1 lean project per quarter.
Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Engineering/ Science
Good documentation skills.
Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and techniques
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, 2015 standards
Experience in coating, surface treatment, or manufacturing industry is an advantage.
Strong data analysis and reporting skills, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Ability to prepare and review Quality Plans, SOPs, SIPs, and Work Instructions.
Understanding of lean manufacturing and continual improvement methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma).
Comfortable working on-site (Monday - Friday).
