Position Overview

Singapore International School Dili (SIS) is an international primary school utilising the Singapore curriculum and located in the capital city of Timor-Leste. Having successfully completed our first year of operations, SIS has achieved its initial student enrolment goals and is now entering the next phase of growth and academic strengthening.

As part of this growth, SIS is seeking dedicated and open-minded preschool teachers to join us. Being a pre-school teacher at SIS would involve designing engaging lesson plans and manipulatives around the Jolly Phonics syllabus, with the focus of helping our young students achieve reading literacy and sentence construction ability. Assessing students' progress, providing constructive feedback, and collaboration with other teachers and staff would also be essential components of the role.

Cultural sensitivity and adaptability are crucial, given the international setting and the diverse background of the students. Having said that, patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for education would certainly be valuable traits in this role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Curriculum Planning and Development

- Develop day to day lesson plans in accordance with the school's Singapore based curriculum.

2. Instruction and Delivery:

- Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that cater to the diverse learning styles and cultural

backgrounds of international students.

3. Assessment and Evaluation

- Design and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress.

- Provide constructive feedback on assignments and exams to help students improve their performance.

4. Classroom Management

- Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.

- Manage classroom behavior effectively, promoting a respectful and cooperative atmosphere.

5. Communication

- Regularly communicate with parents regarding students' progress and any concerns.

- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and coordinate interdisciplinary activities.

6. Cultural Sensitivity

- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness, considering the diverse backgrounds of students in an international school.

7. Extra-Curricular Involvement

- Oversee extracurricular activities related to the subject, such as clubs, competitions, or projects.

Reporting Accountability

The subject teacher reports directly to the principal of SIS Dili

Terms of Employment

Fixed Term (number of days per year)

Salary & Benefits

An expatriate package which includes flight and accommodation to be provided on top of a base salary and allowances.

Qualifications and Experience

At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience in Pre-school educational setting.

Familiarity of delivery of Jolly Phonics or a similar phonics system.

Good interpersonal skills.

Able to interact and work with diversity.

Strong command of English is preferred.
