Pizza Chef Job Summary

Prepare fresh pizza dough and sauces, assemble and bake pizzas to recipe standards, maintain kitchen cleanliness, manage inventory, and assist with menu development in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh pizza dough by kneading and proofing to achieve desired texture and quality
• Create various sauces including tomato, pesto, and white sauces following recipe guidelines
• Slice vegetables and meats accurately to prepare toppings for pizza assembly
• Assemble pizzas according to recipe specifications and portion control standards
• Operate wood-fired, brick, or electric ovens, managing temperature and rotation for even baking
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workstation in compliance with health department standards
• Monitor ingredient stock levels and place orders to ensure continuous supply
• Assist in recommending new recipes and updating menus to enhance offerings
• Collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations

Required competencies and certifications

• Strong knowledge of food hygiene standards and safety protocols

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• At least 3–4 years of experience as a pizza chef or in a similar role
• Deep understanding of dough handling, fermentation, and high-temperature baking techniques
• Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment, particularly pizza ovens
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and work in high-temperature environments
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
