Our client are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Operations Manager to lead our China trading business based in Wuxi.

In this role, you will be responsible for driving the company's commercial success while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the China business. You will work closely with the regional leadership team in Singapore to execute business strategies, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure operational excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong experience in the chemical trading or distribution industry, who enjoys business development, team leadership, and cross-border collaboration.

Responsibilities:

Commercial & Business Development:

• Drive sales growth and achieve revenue and profitability targets.

• Identify and develop new business opportunities within the chemical industry.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and business partners.

• Negotiate commercial agreements and manage key customer accounts.

• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.

• Work closely with regional leadership to execute commercial strategies.

Operations Management:

• Oversee the daily operations of the China trading business.

• Coordinate with suppliers, logistics partners, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth order fulfilment.

• Support inventory planning and supply chain coordination.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, and industry standards.

• Drive operational improvements and business efficiency.

Leadership:

• Lead, coach, and develop the local commercial and support teams.

• Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and high-performance culture.

• Set clear performance expectations and support employee development.

Regional Collaboration

• Serve as the key liaison between the China office and Singapore headquarters.

• Bridge communication and business practices across both countries.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and strategic business initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• At least 8–10 years of leadership experience in the chemical industry, trading, distribution, or related industrial sectors.

• Proven track record in sales, business development, and key account management.

• Experience managing the operations of a trading or distribution business.

• Strong commercial mindset with excellent business acumen.

• Experience leading and developing teams.

• Good understanding of China's business environment and regulatory landscape.

• Experience working with regional or multinational organisations is an advantage.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Remuneration & Benefits:

• Monthly Salary: RMB 25,000– 30,000 (approximately SGD4,700 – SGD5,700), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
