The Opportunity
Our client is one of the world's leading independent commodities trading houses, with a foundational strength and historic roots in the global energy markets, particularly crude oil and refined petroleum products. The company has more than 1,500 employees across more over 20 offices globally. They have significantly diversified their portfolio over the years to include base metals, bulk materials, liquefied natural gas (LNG), biofuels, natural gas, and carbon emissions trading. They leverage their deep market expertise, extensive global logistics network, and strategic investments in storage and infrastructure to facilitate the secure and efficient flow of resources from producers to end-users. With a strong focus on risk management and sustainability, the company is actively evolving its business to meet the demands of the global energy transition. They are currently seeking a Metals Ops Executive in Singapore.
Responsibilities:
- Trusted Point of Contact: Serve as the trusted point of contact for routine internal and external inquiries, maintaining close communication with traders, relevant teams, and customers to ensure smooth collaboration while timely resolving issues and disputes when arise.
- Logistics Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with all cargo shipment procedures and international transport regulations by applying knowledge of industry standards, international shipping policies, and technical terminology across land and maritime logistics.
- Cargo Inventory and Operations Management: Interact with ports/terminals, agents, cargo inspectors, and international legal restrictions on vessels/trucks/rail utilized for cargo shipments. Responsible for the dynamics of delivery and supply, including resolving and communicating with traders on any transport issues arise.
- Documentation & Trade Accuracy: Review trade recaps, confirmations, and contracts for accuracy; coordinate with internal credit teams for LC issuance and manage the collection and presentation of all required documents.
- Inventory & Position Reconciliation: Maintain accurate, real-time account of storage and product movement positions, and analyze product movement data to reconcile and support Loss Control investigations. Review and perform all accruals in system, and conduct month-end inventory reconciliation, working closely with traders on forward projections.

Requirements:
- Min. tertiary qualification with required relevant work experience. Degree qualification preferred
- Min. 8 years of relevant operational experience within commodities trading environment specifically Metals or Dry Bulk
- Strong working knowledge of multiple commodities, components and grade specifications, bulk product, storage, inspection procedures, and product regulatory compliance
- Holistic understanding of cargo transport operations including but not limited to dry freight, airfreight, rail, truck, while also while also ensuring that the delivery or lifting methods comply with various load port or discharge port regulations. This also involves the notification and submission of relevant import and export documents, along with the calculation and tracking of cargo and transport insurance for shipments.
- Strong communication skills in both written and verbal English. Able to speak and understand Mandarin (to liaise with Mandarin speaking stakeholders)
- Capable of working positively within teams and also independently
