Job Description

Installation & Assembly

  • Perform installation, alignment, and assembly of mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, valves, piping systems, and rotating machinery.
  • Ensure all mechanical works are executed as per approved drawings, method statements, and industry standards.
  • Support pre-commissioning activities, including flushing, leak testing, and functional checks.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Diagnose and repair faults, replace defective components, and restore equipment to safe working condition.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions under supervision of senior technicians or engineers.

Testing & Verification

  • Perform pressure testing, mechanical integrity checks, and alignment verification using precision instruments.
  • Assist QA/QC inspectors during inspections and testing activities.
  • Record test data and results for inclusion in quality documentation.

HSE & Quality Compliance

  • Follow all HSE procedures, including use of PPE, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and permit-to-work (PTW) systems.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety audits.
  • Ensure mechanical works comply with project quality standards and inspection test plans (ITPs).

Coordination & Support

  • Work under supervision of the Mechanical Supervisor or Foreman to execute assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and other disciplines during integrated activities.
  • Support site logistics by ensuring correct tools, equipment, and materials are available for assigned tasks.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs, test sheets, and checklists.
  • Report issues, non-conformances, and progress updates to the Mechanical Supervisor.

Special working conditions

  • Onshore site visits and extended working hours may be required during critical project phases.
  • Must be available for rapid deployment to project sites when operational issues arise.

Physical requirements

  • Fit for offshore work and able to meet physical demands and extended standing in field visit conditions.

Education

  • Technical diploma, trade certificate, or vocational training in Mechanical, or related discipline.

Specialized knowledge / experience

Mechanical Systems

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including rotating and static equipment, piping, and auxiliary systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Hands-on experience in mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques for rotating machinery and static equipment.

Testing & Inspection

  • Familiarity with hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, alignment checks, and mechanical integrity verification.
  • Experience supporting QA/QC inspections and documentation.

Tools & Equipment

  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, lifting devices, and precision measurement instruments.

HSE Awareness

  • Strong awareness of safety standards for mechanical works in offshore/industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out, and confined space entry requirements.

Industry Experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience as a mechanical technician in EPC, offshore, or oil & gas projects.
  • Experience in fabrication yards or offshore installation campaigns preferred.

Accreditation / certification

Professional Certifications

  • NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent trade certification (preferred).
  • OEM training in relevant equipment (pumps, compressors, motors, switchgear, etc.).

Safety & Offshore Training

  • Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Rigging & Slinging, and Permit to Work (PTW) certification.
  • Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) training.

Other Relevant Training

  • First Aid and Firefighting awareness (preferred).
  • ISO 9001 quality awareness training (advantageous).
