Job Description
Job Summary
The Material Planner is responsible for planning and managing material requirements to support production and customer demand while optimizing inventory levels and ensuring material availability. This role works closely with Purchasing, Production Planning, and suppliers to achieve on-time delivery, inventory targets, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage material requirements based on customer forecasts, pull signals, and production schedules to ensure timely material availability.
- Collaborate closely with Purchasing to monitor Clear-to-Build (CTB) status and reschedule materials to optimize revenue and maintain healthy inventory levels.
- Participate in daily production meetings and work with Production Planning to support the execution of the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
- Develop and implement actionable plans to achieve inventory targets and effectively manage excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds by ensuring material readiness and coordinating material requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), Just-In-Time (JIT), and consignment inventory programs to support operational requirements.
- Monitor material shortages, expedite critical components, and proactively resolve supply issues to minimize production disruptions.
- Prepare and maintain planning reports, inventory analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material planning and inventory management.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Materials Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in material planning, production planning, or scheduling, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the semiconductor or electronics manufacturing industry will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across all levels.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Willing to work in the East region (Changi North Crescent), Singapore.
