Are you a dynamic finance leader with a passion for driving business performance in global agri trading? Join us as Manager, Business Finance, where you’ll go beyond traditional accounting to deliver strategic insights, partner with commercial teams, and shape financial strategies across diverse markets, with a strong focus on Africa.

This role offers the opportunity to influence financial outcomes in a fast-paced, globally integrated business, to Africa-based operations and collaboration across time zones. You will liaise with overseas entities for management consolidation, data collection, and HQ control—requiring periodic travel to developing countries such as Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda, Mozambique, and other emerging markets.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting Leadership

  • Monitor and assess financial risks across Africa-focused trading and processing operations, including FX exposure, counterparty credit risk, liquidity movements, and commodity price volatility, ensuring timely escalation and mitigation through appropriate financial risk controls
  • Lead end-to-end finance operations, majorly focusing hands on in management analysis of business performance of our Africa-focused agri trading product portfolio and supervising the team doing financial reporting
  • Ensure robust internal controls and compliance, beyond the accounts and tax, across multiple jurisdictions, including Africa and other emerging markets.
  • Support HQ monitoring and financial oversight of cashew processing plants—during both set up and operational phases—in Ivory Coast, India, and Vietnam, ensuring strong governance, accurate reporting, and alignment with group standards.

Business Partnering & Strategic Support

  • Collaborate with trading and commercial teams to optimize capital efficiency and profitability for Africa operations.
  • Deliver actionable insights through forecasting, variance analysis, and ROI evaluations, particularly for capital investments in Africa (e.g.,manufacturing plants, warehouses).

Process Improvement & Digital Transformation

  • Drive automation and efficiency initiatives, including ERP enhancements and dashboard reporting, tailored to local capabilities in developing markets.

Global/Africa Collaboration

  • Liaise with Africa-based entities and support HQ requirements, with periodic travel to countries such as Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda, and Mozambique.

Experience

Experience:

  • Practical experience in identifying, measuring, and managing financial risks—particularly FX, liquidity, credit, and commodity price exposures—within trading or agri commodities environments
  • 8–10+ years of progressive finance experience, including 3–5+ years in commodity trading or agri-related sectors.
  • At least 1 year of continuous work experience based in Africa, providing hands on exposure to local business environments.
  • Proven ability to operate in Africa business environments, with exposure to developing markets and FX volatility (CFA, Ghana Cedi, Naira).
  • Familiarity with local regulatory frameworks and business practices in Africa will enable quick settling down and executing the role.
  • Experience in controllership/financial oversight of cashew (raw cashew nut) processing plants is required.
  • Experience in ERP implementation and process automation in Africa or similar regions is highly valued.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Finance/ Business Administration/ Management Studies and including Professional accreditation such as CA/ CPA/ ACCA is required.

Other Skills

Technical Skills:

  • Applied technical accounting expertise, with demonstrated ability to perform P&L attribution, hedge accounting, and provide financial support aligned with front office trading activities.
  • Strong command of management/business reporting, planning, and internal control frameworks.
  • Practical knowledge of inventory, debtors and FX risk management in Africa markets, where operational challenges differ significantly from developed economies.

Leadership:

  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-border finance teams and fostering collaboration.

Language skills:

  • French language as this role required to liaise with French-speaking Francophone teams and external parties like financial institutions/bankers, across West Africa. Various Africa Group companies are based in Francophone Africa, during regular sites’ reviews with local teams, the ability to speak and understand French is necessary.
