Roles and Responsibilities of a Lifting Supervisor

1. Planning Lifting Operations

   • Develop and review lifting plans and risk assessments before any lifting operation.

2. Safety Oversight

3. Equipment Inspection & Verification

   • Check cranes, hoists, slings, shackles, and other lifting gear before use.

   • Ensure all lifting equipment is certified and in good working condition.

4. Personnel Coordination

   • Assign roles to riggers, signalers, and crane operators.

   • Ensure all personnel are trained and competent.

5. Monitoring Lifting Operations

   • Supervise lifting operations to ensure they follow the approved plan.

   • Maintain control over the lifting zone and restrict unauthorized access.

6. Communication Management

   • Ensure clear communication between crane operators, riggers, and other site personnel.

   • Maintain all necessary records for audits and inspections.

10. Emergency Preparedness

    • Develop and enforce emergency procedures for lifting operations.

    • Ensure first-aid and rescue equipment are available and accessible.

11. Continuous Improvement & Training

    • Identify opportunities to improve lifting procedures and safety measures.

    • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to junior staff.

12. Coordination with Project Management

    • Liaise with project managers and engineers to ensure lifting schedules meet project timelines.

    • Adjust lifting plans according to site conditions and project changes.

13. Environmental Awareness

    • Ensure lifting operations do not damage the environment or surrounding structures.

    • Manage waste and debris created during lifting operations responsibly.
