Roles & Responsibilities:

• Draft, review and negotiate various commercial contracts, with a primary focus on trading (e.g., sales/purchase, derivatives), shipping, logistics, and risk management agreements for commodities (focus on chemicals/oil & gas).
• Provide timely and practical legal advice and support to trading desks and operational teams on contractual, regulatory, and compliance matters throughout the deal lifecycle.
• Handle and manage legal disputes, claims, and potential litigation related to trading activities; coordinate effectively with external counsels.
• Support the review of general corporate contracts as needed, such as procurement, HR, and service agreements.
• Assist in maintaining and improving standard contract templates and legal knowledge databases.
• Perform any ad-hoc tasks assigned by management as required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in law.
• Min. 7 years of relevant post-qualification experience.Candidates with a combined background of law firm training and in-house experience within a commodities trading firm (especially chemicals/O&G) are highly preferred.
• Solid understanding of legal frameworks and common contracts in international commodities trading and shipping.
• Strong commercial sense, analytical skills, and ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly.
• Fluent in both English and Mandarin, with excellent drafting and negotiation skills in both languages.
