Kitchen Operations Associate

Salary: From S$3,500 - $4,500 per month (commensurate with experience)
Reports To: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Kitchen Operations Associate to join our growing culinary team and contribute to the smooth operation of our kitchen.
Position Summary
The Kitchen Operations Associate plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the kitchen by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, organising ingredients and supplies, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. This role is essential in delivering authentic Indonesian cuisine with consistency and efficiency.
The successful candidate should be hardworking, dependable, and passionate about working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
- Assist the chefs in preparing fresh ingredients, including washing, peeling, cutting, slicing, and portioning vegetables, meats, seafood, and other produce.
- Prepare basic ingredients, spice pastes, sambals, marinades, and garnishes in accordance with the restaurant's recipes and standards.
- Portion ingredients accurately to ensure consistency in food quality.
- Assist in plating and assembling dishes during service when required.
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen at all times.
- Wash and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, cookware, and workstations.
- Ensure ingredients and supplies are properly labelled, stored, and rotated using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method.
- Receive and store deliveries while checking quality and freshness.
- Support chefs during busy meal services to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Food Safety & Hygiene
- Comply with all Singapore Food Agency (SFA) food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Handle food safely and maintain proper storage temperatures for chilled and frozen products.
- Ensure workstations and preparation areas remain clean and sanitised throughout each shift.
- Report equipment faults, maintenance issues, or food safety concerns to the Kitchen Manager.
Inventory & Stock Control
- Assist with stock counts and inventory management.
- Monitor ingredient usage and minimise food wastage.
- Inform supervisors when stock levels require replenishment.
- Ensure proper storage of dry goods, refrigerated items, and frozen products.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with chefs and fellow team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Support catering orders, festive promotions, and special events when required.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional attitude while contributing to a collaborative work environment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be assessed based on:
- Quality and consistency of food preparation
- Compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Kitchen cleanliness and organisation
- Teamwork and communication
- Attendance and punctuality
- Reduction of food wastage
- Ability to support efficient meal service
Requirements
Education
- No minimum educational qualification required.
- Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred or willingness to obtain certification upon employment.
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, café, catering company, hotel, or commercial kitchen is preferred.
- Experience preparing Indonesian or Southeast Asian cuisine is an advantage.
- Candidates with a positive attitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Working Hours
- Five or six-day work week, depending on operational requirements.
- Rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
