Job Description
A. PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE
1. Reporting Structure
The position will report directly to the Sport Manager and support the national coaching team.
2. Purpose of the Role
The role exists to provide real-time verbal translation between Japanese and English during artistic swimming training sessions, meetings, and related activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translating coaching instructions, technical feedback, and discussions between Japanese coaches and local athletes/coaches
- Supporting clear and effective communication in a high-performance sports training environment, including poolside settings
- Assisting with translation during meetings, briefings, and team discussions as required

B. JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS
Essential Requirements:
- Fluent in spoken Japanese and English
- Comfortable translating live, two-way conversations
- Able to work in a sports training environment (e.g. poolside, humid conditions)
- Reliable, punctual, and professional approach
Desirable (Not Mandatory)
- Previous experience in sports translation or coaching environments
- Familiarity with artistic swimming, swimming, or other aquatic sports
- Experience working with athletes, coaches, or youth programmes
(No prior artistic swimming experience is required; relevant training context will be provided.)
Job Type: Part-time / Freelance
Location: Various venues, including Our Tampines Hub (OTH) and OCBC Aquatic Centre, Kallang
Remuneration: Hourly rate, commensurate with experience (indicative range: SGD 30–60 per hour)
Working Hours (Indicative & Flexible):
- Weekday evenings: Scheduled between 4.30pm – 9.30pm, depending on training needs
- Weekends: Scheduled between 9.00am – 5.00pm, subject to programme requirements
Note: Working hours are flexible and non-fixed, and will vary based on training schedules, competition periods, camps, and operational needs. Adjustments maybe made week to week.
