Job Description: Ship Repair Instrumentation Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Ship Repair Instrumentation Manager to join our team. The Ship Repair Instrumentation Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of instrumentation systems during ship repair projects. This position requires frequent travel both onboard ships and overseas.
Responsibilities:
Manage Ship Repair Instrumentation Projects: Oversee and manage all instrumentation-related aspects of ship repair projects, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Technical Expertise: Possess advanced knowledge of ship instrumentation systems, including sensors, gauges, meters, control systems, and data acquisition equipment. Provide technical guidance and support to the repair teams.
Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of instrumentation technicians, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to perform their duties effectively.
Onboard Ship Inspections: Go onboard ships to conduct inspections, assessments, and surveys of instrumentation systems. Identify areas requiring repair, upgrade, or replacement.
Equipment Procurement: Collaborate with procurement teams to source and acquire instrumentation equipment, spare parts, and supplies necessary for ship repair projects. Ensure timely delivery and adherence to budgetary constraints.
Budget and Resource Management: Develop project budgets for instrumentation-related activities and monitor expenditures. Allocate resources efficiently to maximize productivity and meet project deadlines.
Vendor Coordination: Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to obtain necessary services and equipment. Negotiate contracts and maintain strong relationships to ensure the highest quality standards and competitive pricing.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and safety protocols in all instrumentation activities. Promote a culture of safety among the team and address any safety concerns promptly.
Travel Requirement: Be prepared to go onboard ships for inspections, installations, repairs, and coordination of instrumentation systems. Additionally, travel overseas regularly to oversee repair projects at international locations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Extensive experience in ship repair instrumentation, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various instrumentation systems.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of technicians.
In-depth knowledge of ship instrumentation systems, including sensors, gauges, control systems, and data acquisition equipment.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to ship repair instrumentation.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and clients.
Willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally, as required by project demands.
Proficiency in relevant software applications and instrumentation tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
