Job Description
The purpose of the Origin Logistics Director is to ensure optimization of all export activities and to manage the movement of finished goods & raw materials from all Asia origins to the rest of the world with a retail‑centric, consumer‑minded & hyper‑digital focus. The Director will also lead our Inbound APAC, Int’l Drop Ship, and Malaysia Operation Logistics teams to meet cost and lead time expectations while driving strong communication to internal stakeholders. This includes VF DC’s and customer direct for 23,000+ containers and 10M kgs. air cargo annually. The role is responsible for the production forecasting process to plan for adequate equipment and space for exports, manage International Drop Shipments, and be the liaison to the Customer Service group for any questions. This role will ensure effective and proper procedures and processes are executed by all 3PL & transportation partners and manage the Vendor Compliance program to ensure that Logistics SOP is followed to maximize efficiency. This position will provide dynamic and visible leadership to positively impact direction and vision for team and peers and help develop and then execute key transportation strategies for Ocean, Airfreight, 3PL, and all custom products. The Director will establish control‑related standards and procedures for all raw materials & finished products. The role will interface with Logistics in AMER, EMEA & APAC and is responsible for all Logistics systems activities to properly support the digital platform to provide timely and accurate visibility to all functional teams, including Sourcing, Customs, Finance, Fulfillment & Customer Service. The role is to ensure trade compliance and maintain proper document management to establish control‑related standards and procedures.
How You Will Make a Difference:
The purpose of this role is to:
- Define the strategy for a comprehensive approach and define standard operating plans for all outbound product flow from Asia, and devise an optimal structure for delivering the required service levels in the most cost‑efficient manner. Manage the Vendor Compliance program to ensure that Logistics SOP is followed to maximize efficiency.
- Develop productive relationships with Inbound Logistics teams in all regions, and work with the Directors to analyze, develop, and implement a routing matrix that provides the most effective routings based on overall brand strategy to help them achieve retail‑centric, consumer‑minded & hyper‑digital goals.
- Develop strategic plans and initiatives such as, but not limited to, cross‑country consolidation, multi‑country consolidation, and assist in the development and strategy of the Global Logistics technology/visibility platform.
- Develop, drive, and manage key cost‑reduction initiatives — strategic and tactical.
- Be the voice and information source for transportation market conditions in Asia to key factories and the rest of the VF world.
- Work closely with the ABO Fulfillment Leader and his DC team to drive optimized product flow, maintain an efficient carrier network, and ensure the timely flow of all import documents to achieve desired on‑time performance.
- Develop and recommend a strategy to manage the movement of products to the Asia Distributor network.
- Provide leadership for effective management at origin for all VF transportation and Logistics providers, managing them with VF service‑level KPI’s.
- Provide the necessary leadership to transform the Asia Logistics department from a customs trade compliance and document audit group to a transportation and customs trade compliance team. Continue to work on talent development to elevate the professional knowledge and skills of the Logistics team to support business growth.
- Support all Corporate Inclusion & Diversity initiatives to achieve desired targets.
- Train, develop & grow Logistics talent through a collaborative process and build the Logistics team into a best‑in‑class operation while focusing on results & the approach in all that’s done.
- Lead our Data and Analytics team and Project Managers in Singapore to ignite value creation, standardization, and harmonization.
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 10–12 years
Minimum Supervisory Experience: 10 years
Educational / Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management or a related area preferred
- Language: Mandarin and Cantonese preferred; English essential
- Time management and ability to manage activities related to routing and scheduling of cargo shipments in a timely and effective manner
- Deep working knowledge of the Infor SCM portal and all its functionality: scan & pack, first sale, PO management, shipment tracking, and all supply chain analytics (SCI)
- Ability to communicate with different work counterparts across different time zones
- Leadership ability to attract, motivate, and retain employees in VF Asia
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
- Routine travel across major origins to ensure SOPs are being followed, meet with key providers, and work with remote staff members to manage their roles
- Travel as needed to the US, China, and Europe for essential management meetings
