Role Overview

This role sits within the Market Surveillance function and is responsible for maintaining fair, orderly, and transparent derivatives markets. The incumbent will conduct surveillance activities to detect potential breaches of exchange rules and support regulatory oversight of trading activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform real-time and post-trade surveillance of derivatives markets to identify potential breaches of exchange rules and market misconduct
• Analyse and review trading alerts and exceptions, including abnormal order activity, price movements, and trading patterns
• Conduct investigations into suspicious or potentially manipulative trading behaviours, ensuring proper documentation and case management
• Escalate findings and support regulatory reporting, enforcement actions, and engagement with relevant authorities where required
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to enhance surveillance methodologies, controls, and detection frameworks
• Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of surveillance tools, rules, and processes in line with regulatory expectations

Requirements

• Experience in derivatives market surveillance, trading compliance, or exchange/regulatory environments
• Good understanding of exchange-traded derivatives, market structure, and trading behaviours
• Familiarity with market misconduct typologies (e.g. spoofing, layering, wash trades, front running)
• Experience in handling trading alerts, investigations, and case escalation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
• Ability to communicate findings clearly and work effectively with multiple stakeholders
