Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Contract Manager to oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects. This role will be responsible for managing contractual risks, supporting project delivery teams, administering contracts and claims, and ensuring effective commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Commercial Management
- Oversee all commercial and contractual aspects related to main contracts and subcontracts
- Manage contractual and commercial risks and implement mitigation measures effectively and promptly
- Review external providers’ (e.g. vendors and subcontractors) terms of service and project deliverables
- Provide contractual and commercial advisory support throughout all project stages, including construction, subcontracting, completion, and handover
- Advise on contractual correspondence while considering commercial implications
Claims & Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and manage contractual risks
- Manage contractual claims, disputes, settlements, and resolutions
- Prepare and review contractual notices, including Extension of Time (EOT), change orders, and related documentation
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, policies, and procedures
Project & Team Support
- Support the Quantity Surveying team in project monitoring, reporting, planning, and coordination activities
- Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, systems, and policies related to contract management and administration
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support successful project delivery
Stakeholder Management
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills in managing internal and external stakeholders
- Apply strategic thinking and sound judgement when addressing contractual and commercial matters
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in contract negotiation, administration, and/or management within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction law, contract law, and standard forms of construction contracts
- Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong sense of integrity, dependability, urgency, and results orientation
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment
