About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Build Engineer (Linux Administrator / VMware Specialist) to support enterprise infrastructure and environment build operations. You will be responsible for managing Linux systems, VMware virtual environments, and automation across production and non-production setups.
This role is ideal for someone hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and administer Unix/Linux servers (primarily Red Hat Enterprise Linux – RHEL)
- Manage and support VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, clusters, and networking
- Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning
- Implement security hardening, patching, and compliance standards (CIS, STIG, internal policies)
- Troubleshoot complex issues across OS, virtualization, networking, storage, and application connectivity
- Manage file systems, disk partitioning, LVM configurations, and storage allocation
- Automate operational processes using Bash, Python, or Ansible
- Maintain backup, snapshot, and disaster recovery strategies
- Support system deployments, upgrades, and migrations in collaboration with DevOps and application teams
- Maintain technical documentation including SOPs, architecture, and troubleshooting guides
- Participate in on-call support rotation when required
Technical Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in Linux/Unix system administration (RHEL preferred)
- Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter, clusters)
- Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS)
- Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Shell, Python, Ansible)
- Experience in system monitoring tools and infrastructure analytics
- Exposure to OpenShift / Kubernetes / container platforms is a plus
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is advantageous
Additional Technical Exposure (Nice to Have)
- Experience in full-stack environments (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, Node.js, Angular)
- Knowledge of databases (MySQL, MongoDB) and web servers (Apache)
- Experience integrating VMware with cloud environments (AWS / Azure)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of Linux administration experience
- Minimum 3 years of VMware experience
Certifications (Preferred)
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Red Hat Certifications (RHCSA / RHCE)
