We are hiring an experienced Middle Office professional to take on a key, value-added role supporting Financial Institutions (FI) and Custody businesses.
This is not a routine operations role. The successful candidate will play a critical part in setting up new business workflows, restructuring existing operational processes, and acting as a central bridge between Front Office, Treasury, Custodian, Back Office, IT, and Head Office.
You will have the opportunity to drive change, improve efficiency, and ensure strong governance in line with MAS regulations and internal risk frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Middle Office Setup & Process Optimisation (Core Focus)
Design and implement end-to-end middle office workflows for new products and business initiatives
Develop and enhance SOPs, SLAs, and control frameworks
Identify operational gaps and lead process re-engineering to reduce manual work, mitigate risk, and improve turnaround time
Act as a key coordinator for system enhancements, migrations, and UAT activities in collaboration with IT and Head Office
2. Financial Institutions (FI) Middle Office Management
Work closely with Treasury on deposit pricing, including internal FTP and customer quotations
Oversee instruction management for interbank placements and settlements, ensuring proper maker-checker controls
Review and manage institutional client onboarding, including KYC/AML, FATCA/CRS, and complex corporate structures
Monitor counterparty credit limits and support collateral management where applicable
3. Custody & Operational Risk Oversight
Monitor trade lifecycles and settlements, identifying exceptions and operational risks
Support cross-border alignment between Singapore operations and Group / Head Office requirements
Assist in audit preparation and regulatory inspections
4. Stakeholder & Regulatory Coordination
Act as a key liaison between local stakeholders and Head Office
Prepare and support regulatory reporting and responses to regulators
Coordinate with internal teams including Compliance, Legal, IT, Operations, and Sales
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Law, or related disciplines
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Banking Middle Office, Operations, Product Control, or similar functions
Strong exposure to FI business, deposits, settlements, custody, or institutional onboarding
Solid understanding of MAS regulations, AML/CFT requirements, and operational risk controls
Familiarity with SWIFT messages and banking systems
Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency is required for communication with Head Office
Strong ownership mindset, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Why This Role
Opportunity to build and shape middle office processes instead of just maintaining them
High visibility role with close interaction with Front Office, Treasury, and Head Office
Suitable for candidates looking to step up into a more strategic operations / middle office position
