Job Description
An AC Engineering Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems. They ensure these systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant standards. Their role bridges the gap between design/engineering plans and practical implementation on-site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation of AC Systems
Install air conditioning units (split, VRF, central systems) as per design specifications.
Connect and configure electrical components, sensors, thermostats, and control panels.
Assemble ducting, piping, and refrigerant lines accurately.
Test installed systems to ensure proper operation and airflow.
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Conduct routine inspections of AC systems, including cleaning filters, coils, and condensers.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in compressors, fans, pumps, and control circuits.
Repair or replace faulty components to restore optimal performance.
Monitor refrigerant levels and recharge systems if necessary.
3. System Optimization
Adjust system settings for energy efficiency and optimal cooling/heating performance.
Calibrate temperature controls, pressure sensors, and other instrumentation.
Analyze system performance data to recommend improvements.
4. Safety and Compliance
Follow safety protocols when handling refrigerants, high-voltage electrical components, and pressurized systems.
Ensure compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and occupational safety standards.
Properly dispose of refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and system performance.
Prepare reports for clients or supervisors on system conditions and service recommendations.
Update technical documentation and diagrams after modifications.
6. Collaboration
Work with engineers, project managers, and electricians for installation or system upgrades.
Assist in planning and selecting equipment based on building specifications.
Provide guidance to junior technicians or apprentices.
7. Technical Upgrading
Stay updated with new HVAC technologies, eco-friendly refrigerants, and energy-efficient solutions.
Participate in training for advanced AC systems (like VRF, smart HVAC, or chillers).
